Asking for forgiveness
You come to me once again.
Cast your pricey pearls
into the cold, cloudy stream.
The only jewels I long for
Are short-lived, tiny beads of water Upon sharp blades of grass, Glowing shyly in the aftermath of sudden rains in September.
Above the hard ground
flashing swords. Beneath the waves
slumbering fishes.
Shroud of mist looming
over the unrippled lake.
Cry of magan geese
A kind mind will pour
Soothing care onto dry hearts.
Lake is molten sky
How long can I keep
eluding your languid eyes?
Somewhere, koi carp gleams.
Stillness of the pond,
yet the leaves grow like brush strokes.
Ever-flowing world.
As our paths branch off
Scaled regrets flock to our shades.
Maples by the lake
Awe-struck breaths clouding:
cherry blossoms in winter
the night blizzard's gift
I sat with Genji
as leaves dyed the pouring tea.
Momijigari
